Peak Editorial Case Study
A media business centred around understanding the everyday difficulties, invisible systems, and hard parts of life that we all navigate.
HARDLY EASY
Nick Arnold is a journalist and producer, and he also just so happens to be one of Peak Jam Theory’s Co-Founders.
In 2024, Nick signed his first book contract with HarperCollins Australia to write his debut non-fiction, self-help book all about how we can get a bit better at responding to the harder things that can happen to us in life. If its title wasn’t still TBC we’d absolutely tell you it.
The book is due for release in early 2027. But what better Peak Editorial case study could we have asked for?
We took Nick’s mission for his book - to help people struggle less when something really damn hard happens to them - and we asked ourselves how an adjacent new media business could expand on that mission.
Hardly Easy was the result. Because everyone struggles, but too often we’re left to face it alone or told it’s a personal failing.
In reality, struggles are universal. They’re shaped by invisible systems, cultural norms, and the structures around us. Traditional media rarely explains this, and self-help often feels preachy. Hardly Easy fills that gap with kindness, humour, and curiosity - normalising what we all go through, explaining why life feels this way, and showing how it could be easier.
We have big plans for Hardly Easy. But first, we thought we’d start with a weekly Hardly Easy newsletter delivered straight to your inbox.
It’s launching in December 2025, so make sure you subscribe below.
